Jolly Good Show!

Some complimentary tickets courtesy of the sponsor saw us heading off on the hottest Friday of the year to The Oval to watch Surrey play Somerset in this year's seemingly endless Twenty20 competition.

This was my first trip to the Oval and I couldn't say it looks lovely from the outside, though the Hobbs Gates bring to mind a different era.



Once inside it looked great - though smaller than I'd thought from seeing it on the TV!




And, of course, this must be the most famous gasometer in the country!


The ground filled up, the skies cleared making it less humid and we watched a good game - Wilf was more than happy as Surrey scored a much needed win.  




In the slow bits - and believe it or not there were some - we watched the planes coming low over the ground on their way to Heathrow.
